Preloved book club

1. Bridget Jones’s Diary, Helen Fielding

It’s a classic we all know from the Renee Zelweger but to fully experience Helen Fieldings comedy you should read the book. It’s a very fun read for a group of friends as well as readily available as a used book with plenty of different editions or covers.

2. A Thousand Splendid Suns, Khaled Hosseini

You might have read this in school but it’s well worth revisiting. There’s a lot to unpick in this harrowing story an make for some interesting discussion in a book club.

3. The Handmaids Tale, Margaret Atwood

Essential reading for anyone, The Handmaids Tale is a brilliant dystopian classic exploring a future where the USA is over taken by an extremist religious group seeking to force fertile women into bearing children for its families. There’s a lot to discuss in a group with this book and it’s again very easy to find used at a steal.

4. Twilight, Stephanie Meyer

If it’s been a while or if you’ve never before read Twilight this would be my favourite pick for a used book club. When Bella moves to Forks she meets Edward Cullen and becomes wrapped up in a world of vampires and werewolves. Revisiting this series possibly after years will make for such a fun book club.

5. The Midnight Library, Matt Haig

A more recent read that you can find quite easily used, The Midnight Library is a great read about a woman who’s unfulfilled in life and after a suicide attempt she is given the ability to see what could have happened in her life if she’d made different choices. Once again there are lots of different takes you can have on this story and it makes for brilliant discussion around the crossroads we often face in life.

A book club is the perfect excuse to get together and discuss some fantastic books. Add some extra fun and save some money by buying used, as well as giving to a great cause if you buy from your local charity shop. Once you’re done with your book pass it on to a friend or loved one, or donate again to charity.
